A Handsome Young Man Weds Two Women On The Same Day Watch video
It came up earlier on the BBC radio as A young Somali man called Mr mohamed got married to two women on the same night, And has been granted an interview to the BBC asking men to do the same thing.
It is a destiny that I bring my two wives home in the same night”, said the groom Ismail Osman Abdilllahi in response to a question about how he managed to marry two women in the same night.
On the other hand, the two prides reportedly said that they are happy to have a shared wedding with their husband.
And This is the second time similar event took place in Somalia and is very unique to the Somali Culture. The other wedding happened in the village of GARABIS south-west of Hargeysa.
As it was narrated, Mr Bashir Mohamed said he courted both women for about eight months and convinced them to marry him, Which they both agreed.
Here he said,I used to bring them together to socialise with me at my home,
He told BB . I used to say openly to both of them that I love them. They were always satisfied each time I say it, He added. That the advantage of marrying both women at the same time was that they would not get jealous of each other later, and would know from the beginning that they were in a polygamous marriage, Mr Mohamed said.
He had taken two wives because he wanted many children. And I will encourage other men to do so if they can afford it,
He explained further that Polygamy is allowed in Somali culture, but it is unusual to marry two women at the same time, BBC Somali’s Mohamed Mohamed says.
It has happened a few times in the last few years, suggesting that a new trend may be starting, And he adds.
